The Second Season

What’s important

Posted by: ellenward on: August 27, 2006

Recently I’m on this kick about figuring out what I want to do with the rest of my life. I guess I’m at that age where you do that! So here’s my list of what’s important and what I’m working on.

1) Ed’s important. We just got married in March. I want to spend the rest of my life making him happy.

2) My family is important. Its always been that way and sure isn’t going to change now, hopefully even get better.

3) Our health is important. We’re working on becoming more active, losing weight and eating more carefully.

4) I enjoy working on genealogy. I’ve been plugging away at it but now it needs to have a little more focus. And maybe take it just a little more seriously. Who knows? Maybe I’ll get to the point where I can do geneaology as a business in my retirement. So, to “kick it up a notch” as Emeril says, Ed and I are taking a trip to Boston to attend the FGS Genealogy Conference at the end of August. http://www.fgs.org/2006conf/FGS-2006.htm . We’ll also explore Boston which we’re both looking forward to.

5) I still have 8-10 years left before I retire, if then! So I decided I’d see if I want to make some changes in the work I do. I love managing a help desk but maybe there’s something more interesting waiting for me. So.. I decided to take the plunge and go to graduate school. I’ll try it for a semester and see if I want to continue. I’m also taking some programming classes through work. That should give me some alternatives too.

Ellen, you are doing three times as much in your second season as I did in my first. Good on you!
